  Great location and views, looking West through the patio doors you can see Clitheroe Castle and Longridge Fell. Turning West to North you can see Bowland Fell then the Trough of Bowland in the distance. This location is on the slopes of Pendle Hill and is ideal walking country, the picturesque village of Downham is about a 30 minute walk wether you follow the country lanes or the waymarked paths across the fields. New Year's eve just before midnight the fireworks started to go off and we were able to see them all along the Ribble Valley from our lofty location. You actually look down onto Clitheroe and the Ribble Valley. The Calfs Head in Worston is about half a mile away downhill towards the A59, the menu is simple the food is good and booking a table is a must at this busy place.
  The owners, Christine and John, were very friendly, easily contactable and readily available to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Getting to other places is easy with the close proximity of the A59, if you turn left you can easily get to Preston and Blackpool or, if you turn right you can go to Skipton and Harrogate. The nearby village of Chatburn has a small corner shop that make their own delicious ice cream and in a variety of flavours too. Clitheroe has a selection of supermarkets, Booths, Sainsbury's, Aldi and Lidl. There are also 3 Thouroughgoods off licences for your beer, wine and spirit requirements. They're associated with the Bargain Booze chain so their prices are competitive.
  The only negative was the weather, being on the West of the country we enjoyed every storm that hit Britain in our 2 week stay, I think there were 3! There is a saying in Burnley, the other side of Pendle Hill and where Premier League football is available to watch, if you can see Pendle Hill it's going to rain, if you can't then it's already raining.
